Happy New Year, friends.
I thought all week about my list, and so here it is, coupled with a longer one with smaller goals that include things like finding ways to enjoy winter (cross-country skiing!), daily flossing (so far so good!), a decrease in meaningless internet surfing (so-so..), an increase in library usage (two holds in transit!), and so on, and so on…
I resolve to…
-listen and converse with others with patience, compassion, curiosity and reverence.
-perform acts of kindness, knowing that they bring me as much joy as they do the receiver.
-build structure into my daily life in order to allow time for necessary play and repose.
-tell others I’m thinking about them when I am.
-practice mindfulness in life’s daily (sometimes mundane) routines, and be present wherever I may be.
-be gentle with myself and understand that mindfulness is a journey not a destination.
-count my blessings first, and shout it from the rooftops that I am thankful for all that I am, that I have.
I wish you so much joy and love in 2013!
